A full series of 10 How to Manage your Cancer Symptoms - Guides for Patients are now available for cancer patients and their families across Ontario.

These easy to read guides provide evidence-based, practical information to help people with cancer and their loved ones better manage symptoms. The symptoms featured in the guides include those screened through the Edmonton Symptom Assessment System (ESAS):

  • Fatigue
  • Nausea and vomiting
  • Pain
  • Constipation
  • Diarrhea
  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Shortness of Breath
  • Loss of Appetite
  • Mouth Problems

The How to Manage Your Cancer Symptoms – Guides for Patients were created by Cancer Care Ontario in collaboration with a working group of clinicians, patients and patient education experts after a gap was identified in the availability of provincially standardized, comprehensive self-management information.

The guides are available for download in English and French at www.cancercare.on.ca/symptoms. They have also been translated into Italian, Spanish, Tamil, Simplified and Traditional Chinese and will be available online in the coming months.
