Diagnosis

Doctor presenting a diagnosis to a patient

A cancer diagnosis is one of the first steps taken in the cancer care system. Reducing the amount of time from symptom onset to diagnosis can lead not only to the start of earlier treatment but reduced anxiety and distress for both the patient and their loved ones.

There are more than 200 types of cancer. Because each type is so different, it's not likely that there will be a single screening or diagnostic test or treatment for all types of cancer. Click here to view some of the more common types of cancer.

Diagnostic Assessment Programs (DAPs) manage and coordinate the entire process of a person's diagnostic care, from testing to diagnosis or to rule out cancer care. Click here to learn more about DAPs in the South West.
