Pharmacy

The pharmacy located in the London Regional Cancer Program (LRCP) is responsible for a number of functions within the centre, including the preparation of all intravenous chemotherapy administered in the centre. The LRCP pharmacy is exclusively for patients of LRCP.

Pharmacists review all chemotherapy orders for appropriateness to ensure that the chemotherapy regimen and dose are correct for each patient.

Chemotherapy orders are computer generated in the centre. The pharmacists are also involved in maintaining the various chemotherapy regimens used at LRCP. The outpatient pharmacy dispenses prescriptions for cancer patients of the centre and counsels all new patients.

The pharmacists at LRCP are involved in other aspects as well. They provide answers to drug-related questions from nurses and doctors throughout the centre, coordinate various clinical drug trials operating at the centre, and attend multidisciplinary rounds.
